Each day people search for ways to improve their lives. However, the answers are not always found easily - yet we discover that some have been within our reach all along. In many cases, educating ourselves is all it takes to lead us to discoveries about ourselves that can help to improve our lives. And, even when we are happy with our lives - there is always room for improvement in everything we do. One way involves using the meaning of dreams to improve your life.

Everyone sleeps - therefore everyone dreams. When we dream, we are allowing our conscious mind to rest while the information stored in our subconscious minds is analyzed. During the day, your brain sends lots of data that you don't consciously process to your subconscious for storage - background noises, feelings that you may wish to ignore. To help your mind work effectively, this material must, at some point be processed and analyzed.

That's where dreaming comes in. While you sleep - as your body and conscious mind rest - your brain is busy processing and sorting this information in an attempt to dispose of the information stored in your subconscious. But, how could this help us to improve our lives?

Some people believe that dreams just happen - that you have no control over what comes to mind in your sleep. There are actually two kinds of dreams - natural and intentional. If you allow yourself to understand the meaning of dreams, you are on your way to improving your life.

Natural dreams occur with no conscious thought on our part - just as the tides rise and fall each day. Most people don't consciously think about the tides, yet the tides play an important role in the cycle of the universe. Learning to interpret our natural dreams can help us to improve our lives. We learn to analyze our deepest feelings and desires.

However, the effect of natural dreams can be taken a step further. Intentional dreams can enhance our dream experience and help us to focus on areas that can improve our lives. An intentional dream is happens when you focus your mind and heart on a certain area of your life and generate dreams that make a difference in your life.

Unlike controlling your dreams, intentional dreams only give you a focus for your dreams, a background so to speak. Sort of like the way in which you would direct a child towards a certain goal, then wait and allow the child the freedom to master the goal by him or herself. You are not controlling your dreams, you are focusing your dreams to areas in your life that you may need to be changed.

Once you have directed your dreams to a specific area, you will need to remember the events or people of the dream and learn the meaning behind the details. Often, we will get an a deeper understanding our true feelings and desires. The process of intentional dreaming can aid in solving many specific problems in our lives, and giving us insight into psychological, personal, and even spiritual questions we have.

As we learn to interpret and analyze these dreams, we learn more about ourselves. You have to keep in mind, though, that everything we learn may not be pleasant. Suppose for a moment that you have been involved in a controversy with a close neighbor for years. Taking a deeper look at your role in the dispute may reveal to you where you could have done things differently in order to improve the situation and can show you how you can amend the situation.

Improving your life using the meaning of dreams requires effort on your part - as do most things. First you will need to learn to focus your mind and heart, then you must learn to remember the details of your dreams, and finally learn to analyze your dreams. It may often require that you deal with issues that may have been long-buried in your subconscious mind and require that you face the past.

Dreams can help you to improve your life in many areas. Dreams can help with personal growth, career development, parenting, can help you to build skills that can help improve every aspect of your life, and can even help you to be a more creative person. Just as with most things, it requires learning a set of skills (remembering and interpreting) and exerting these skills to enhance your life - dreaming your way to a better life!
